It’s been a quite a year for amateur golf in Great Britain and we asked some our leading players what were their stand-out moments and also asked them to look ahead to 2022
‘I can’t split getting the course record at Dean Wood and winning the Lancashire Boys at Dunscar’
1) Your best round of the year and why?
Best round of the year was at Dean Wood where I broke the course record there with a 63 (-8).
2) Your best shot of the year and why?
That came at Seaton Carew in the North of England Amateur last month when I slam dunked it in from 88 yards. It was into wind and it was great to do it when it really mattered having done it a few times in knockabouts.
3) The best shot you saw and why?
The best shot I saw this year came Open Qualifying at St Annes. A great lad called Danny Kay holed out from something like 160 yards.
4) Your favourite moment of 2021 (this could be personal or something completely random but golf related)?
I can’t split getting the course record at Dean Wood and winning the Lancashire Boys at Dunscar.
5) Your hopes and ambitions for 2022?
Hopes and ambitions for next year are to set another course record somewhere and hopefully improve my handicap put also getting a club sponsor would be great.
6) One thing you would change about about golf for next season?
A thing I would change is my own course preparation for the events I’m playing. I usually just rock up have a practice round with mates, have a laugh and go but I should really be making notes on what i should hit off tees, where to leave myself and so on.
