72 holes in a day… enter your team and help raise £1000s for cancer charity
golfnews24.co.uk is entering a team in Macmillan Cancer Support’s Longest Day Golf Challenge so why don’t you?
Now in its 22nd year, it is one of the most anticipated events of the summer for thousands of club golfers – and the call is out to take part this year.
The official date (on the longest day of the year) is June 21, but any time between May and August is fine, too. You’ll need enough daylight to play 72 holes, but the more money you raise, the more you can help people living with cancer. Register here before the end of June.
golfnews24.co.uk managing editor Mark Flanagan will be joined by his sister Karen Flanagan, brother-in-law Jonathan Levitt and friend Chris Mills at Horsforth Golf Club on June 23. The quartet will be teeing off at 5am and expect to finish around 9.30pm.
Mark said: “It’s a long day, and we will be walking around 22 miles, but MacMillan do such a fantastic job helping people with cancer, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take part in this fundraiser.
“And a big thanks to Horsforth Golf Club, who are allowing us to play. I just hope we can all make it round four times!”
Nationally, the team who raises the most money will win a holiday (including flights and accommodation) to Boavista Golf & Spa Resort in Portugal to take part in the Longest Day Golf Challenge Finals on November 3-6, 2022
Macmillan are also inviting participants to share photographs and videos of their build-up and from the day itself on social media. That can be via Twitter at @GolfMacmillan #longestdaygolf or on Facebook @macmillangolf
