County double for Hollinwell teenager
NOTTS: Monday May 31st
Hollinwell’s Libby Kilbride reinforced her status as one to watch by winning another Notts county championship at Wollaton Park.
After missing out the senior/junior double two years ago, the 18-year-old made no mistake at the weekend, shooting a two over par 75 to secure the Intermediate title while Norwood Park’s Madeline Smith finished with a 78 to take the junior prize by three shots from clubmate Elizabeth Wilson. She was also finished top in the U-16s and U-14s categories and will represent the county in the Daily Telegraph finals.
Earlier this month Libby, who is set to take a place at Jacksonville State University later this year, won the senior event in sparkling fashion, beating Lauren Spray (Notts Ladies) 6&4 in the final. She will also lead the Notts Ladies team at the North Midlands County Week at Hinckley (June 28-30).
Meanwhile at Woolaton, Beeston Fields’ Amelia Nugent won the 9-hole competition ahead of Maya Kubba (Rufford Park).
