It’s been a quite a year for amateur golf in Great Britain and we asked some our leading players what were their stand-out moments and also asked them to look ahead to 2022
‘We ended up winning the overall team event and I came third in the all-tournament event out of 100 players’
1) Your best round of the year and why?
In the final of the Independent Schools Golf Association at Worsley Park, I won the individual competition and my school Gordon’s won the team event. I shot my lowest round of the year (-5).
2) Your best shot of the year and why?
Hitting my seven iron inches away from the hole on a par 3 (170 yards) at my second college golf tournament after making a stupid bogey on the last hole to finish -3 for the day.
3) The best shot you saw and why?
I saw someone from my club make their first ever hole in one on a tricky downhill par three.
4) Your favourite moment of 2021 (this could be personal or something completely random but golf related)?
Going to my first ever college tournament in the States, representing my university (Limestone). We ended up winning the overall team event and I came third in the all-tournament event out of 100 players. I shot -2 for two rounds.
5) Your hopes and ambitions for 2022?
Consistently playing for my college team and going and winning the nationals. Last year they went to nationals but just missed out.
6) One thing you would change about about golf for next season?
I would love to be able to hit it in closer from within 100 yards as this will enable me to make more birdies and go low!
