FORMAT: 36-hole stroke play
A career-best, two-under-par 72 secured an emphatic victory for Lancashire’s Sadie Adams in the Scottish U-14s Open at Stirling.
The Burnley junior started her final round just one ahead of fellow North West regional development squad member Isabella Taylor-Stokes (Mottram Hall), but some super-consistent playing – she hit 15 greens in regulation – helped her finish seven clear of the Cheshire player with Hamilton’s Jodie Graham five shots further back in third.
Such was Sadie’s level of performance, she finished runner-up in the U-16s to Ellise Rymer (Lincoln) but was delighted to have won her first national scratch title. Two years ago she won the U-12s nett prize at the same event.

“My dad (Chris) and I have talked about keeping bogeys off the card and in the second round I was just trying to think about my best golf,” said Sadie, who was watched on the final day by mum Lynsey with dad having to go back to London on work-related matters.
In round one she had eagle chances at seven, nine and 13, lipping out each time from around 20 feet but she did hole out from ten feet for a birdie at the second on her way to a one-over-par 75.
The following day she certainly kept the bogeys off the card and, despite the headache of coping with worsening weather on the back nine, held her round together superbly. A birdie at the 15th, where she holed out from eight feet, got her back to two under for the day and she parred in to finish one under for the tournament.
