Suffolk: Girls Championship

Suffolk Girls champion Juliette Coffey

Rarest of birds almost sighted on Suffolk coast

SUFFOLK: Tuesday June 15th

Juliette Coffey came close to recording an albatross as she won the Suffolk Girls Championship at Felixstowe Ferry.

The 16-year-old from Woodbridge GC’s drive at the 283-yard third finished just four feet from the pin, a shot made all the more special because of the incredibly tight entrance to the green.

She holed the putt for a stunning two, setting up a three-shot win over Mary Cuthbert (Thorpeness) and Chloe Dixon (Ufford Park) and it followed on from her victory in the Suffolk Girls Spring Cup on the same course.

Juliette, who was born in Paris and has been living in the UK since 2017, finished with six straight pars to claim her first ever win in the competition and will now represent the county at the Champion of Champions at Woodhall Spa in September (10-11).

It was also a very good day for the Coffey family overall as Juliette’s 15-year-old sister Melissa won the nett prize.
