Sussex-based professional Steven Orr will replace Rob Watts as lead coach of the England Boys squad.
Orr, who was the youngest ever recipient of the PGA Master Professional title, brings a wealth of experience to the role. For the last 20 years he has been based at the Rustington Golf Centre near Worthing.
Watts left the role in September to take over as lead coach in the national men’s set-up.
England Golf’s performance director Nigel Edwards said: “We are thrilled that Steve has agreed to succeed Rob in what are exciting times for boys’ golf in England.
Many of our leading amateurs look back on their highlights of the year
“Rob has really created an excellent culture, work ethic and attitude in the boys’ squad and this will allow Steve to continue the good work.
“Steve will certainly bring his own skills to the table. He is an excellent coach and will be prepared and ready to support the players.”
Orr was voted England Golf Coach of the Year in 2015 and has been working on a Doctorate in Elite Performance. Many of his students have gone on to forge a career on male and female professional tours.
He is also currently looking after rising Kent star Jack Lee, Kipp Popert – the country’s leading golfer with a disability – and 2021 Amateur champion Laird Shepherd.
