The Northern Order of Merit is the largest scratch competition in the country and, below, we outline how it will work for 2023…
EVENTS
Each of the 34 host clubs looks after its own competition and entries must be made through them and entry fees must be paid to them.

In the event of over subscription, each club will decide arbitrarily how it fill its own competition. The top 12 finishers at each event earn points towards the Northern Order of Merit standings as follows:
1) 25
2) 20
3) 16
4) 14
5) 12
6) 10
7) 8
8) 6
9) 4
10) 3
11) 2
12) 1
FINAL STANDINGS
There is no limit to the number of events you can enter and once the final event has been completed on September 17th, 2023, the top 30 in the Northern Order of Merit final standings will be invited to play in the Grand Final at Hurlston Hall on September 25th.

Should any of the qualifiers not wish to play, those finishing 31st and downwards will be invited in the order they finished and as and when organisers receive notification of non appearance. Once a player is guaranteed a spot in the top 30, they will be notified and given the opportunity to select their tee time for the final.

PRIZES
Each participating club decides on the prizes for its own event and Northern Order of Merit organisers have no say in what that will be.
The Northern Order of Merit organisers are offering cash prizes for the top three in:
• The final standings: 1, £700; 2, £450: 3, £150
• Grand Final: 1, £700; 2, £450: 3, £150
ELIGIBILITY
The Northern Order of Merit is open to golfers with an amateur status and those wishing to be eligible to play in the Grand Final must submit details before August 1st, 2023.
