It is an achievement every good golfer has on their bucket list but very few manage to birdie every par three in one round.
But that’s just what evergreen Mike Keegan did in the last major medal of the season at Chorlton-cum-Hardy Golf Club in south Manchester.
The 58-year-old, whose older brother Ged played for Manchester City in the 70s, has been the club champion for the past two seasons but possibly eclipsed that feat by recording twos at the fourth, 10th, 13th and 17th on his way to one-under-par 69.
“It’s a strange one,” said Mike.

“I was talking to a few of the lads at Chorlton and no one could recall anyone doing it so maybe it’s rarer than you think.”
At the fourth he stuck his tee shot at the 188-yarder to 12 feet and knocked in the putt.
Then at the 10th he was just short of the green and chipped in from 15 yards.
The 161-yard 13th proved the stage for a much more orthodox two as he pinged an iron to five feet and then made sure of the ‘Grand Slam’ in style by putting his tee shot to 18 inches at the 17th.
Mike added: “It was pretty close to being a hole in one and I am glad there wasn’t any pressure on the putt. It was nice just to knock it in and not leave myself anything longer than a couple of feet.”
