Northern Order of Merit boost after years without backing
The country’s leading amateur golf news website has agreed to sponsor the Northern Order of Merit for the 2022 season.
Golfnews24.co.uk was established last year and has quickly grown into one of the most popular golf news websites in the country. In 2021 it reported on nearly 300 elite-level amateur competitions and also included live coverage from the likes of the Walker Cup and Final Qualifying for the British Open.

Its support will enable The Northern Order Of Merit to develop, under the stewardship of Mere-based England international Jack Brooks, who won last year’s overall competition.
“To get the support of golfnews24.co.uk is fantastic for the Northern Order of Merit and golf in region,” said Jack.
“There is a growing appetite for elite-level competitions, as the number of plus-handicap players increases, and we are all determined to build on the competition’s previous successes and maintain its status as the best regional Order of Merit competition in the country.
Mark Flanagan, managing editor of Feast of Sport Media Ltd, the company that runs golfnews24.co.uk, was delighted the golf website’s first major commercial deal was with the Northern Order of Merit.
He said: “One of the main reasons we started golfnews24.co.uk was to support amateur golf and hopefully raise the profile of competitions that get very little media coverage.
“And the Northern Order of Merit is unquestionably a brilliant competition. The North West is so lucky to have so many stand-out venues and superb players. However its popularity and standing is obvious when you see how far people come to play in these events. Leading amateurs from the Midlands, Yorkshire and Wales are regulars.
“And it is brilliant Jack has committed to running the event and making it even better. We will do everything we can to support it and, hopefully, elevate its media profile.”
The Northern Order of Merit kicks off with the Crosby Challenge Plate Open at West Lancs on Sunday, April 3th. The field is full but to see the full list of entry options, click here
