Earlier this month we reported on the strange goings on at Royal Mid Surrey where member Seamus Joyce found a ball nestled halfway up a tree stump with an Egyptian goose standing guard.
Leeds golfer Damien Beggs read the story and got in touch to let us know about finding his ball ten feet up a tree at Howley Hall GC in Morley.
Surrey golfer finds ball with Egyptian Goose standing guard
It was the Summer of 2020 and Beggs was teeing off the par five sixth when his ball arrowed towards a group of three trees on the right side of the long dog leg.
Neither he or his playing partners saw the ball come out and a casual glance up into the woodland left him, and the rest of the group, staring at each other in disbelief.
“I had to identify it by zooming in with my phone camera,” added Beggs.
Once he was sure it was his ball, out came the four iron – there would be no Bernhard Langer-esque tree-climbing heroics – and he was able to knock it out the branches before taking a penalty drop and carrying on with his round.
