A stunning final round from Staffordshire’s Ben Bolton secured him a six-shot victory in the European Young Masters in Slovakia.

The Enville player became the first English boy to win the coveted U-16s prize in ten years thanks to a dazzling closing 67 (-6). Kedleston Park’s Bradley Moore won the event in 2013.
Bolton went bogey free at the Sedin Golf resort yesterday as he finished 11 under overall while Iceland’s Markus Marelsson moved into second thanks to a final-round 72.
Bolton started the day level with England U-16s champion Kris Kim (Walton Heath), who never recovered from opening up with a triple bogey seven. He would eventually finish in eighth, ten shots behind his international team-mate.

In contrast his playing partner opened with two birdies and once he extended his lead with further birdies at the seventh and ninth, there was only one player left in the race.
The soon-to-be-champion also birdied 13 and 17 for good measure to record the lowest score in the tournament.
In the girls event, Royal Birkdale’s Sadie Adams was the leading English player in joint 30th while France took the team prize, four shots clear of Italy, who were a further shots ahead of third-placed Spain.
