A dream week for Surrey junior Kris Kim was rounded off in style today with confirmation he has made the European Junior Ryder Cup team.
The 15-year-old Walton Heath junior finished top of the boys’ qualifying process thanks to his sensational victory in the British Boys at Ganton on Sunday.
The following day he was named in the ten-strong Jacques Leglise Trophy team that will take on the best of Continental Europe in France this weekend (August 25-26).
And today was one of 12 youngsters named by European Junior Ryder Cup captain Stephen Gallacher. The three-day match with the Americans acts as a curtain raiser for the main event in Rome (September 26-28).
Gallacher said: “I would like to congratulate the players selected to represent Europe in the 2023 Junior Ryder Cup. They have all performed brilliantly over the past year and their selection is fully justified.
“I’ve been to several of the qualification events this year and I’ve been blown away by the standard of golf on show. We’ve got a very strong team and it is going to be a fiercely contested tournament against the United States.

“It is a tremendous honour to be their Captain and I am looking forward to working with and showcasing the most exciting future talent in Europe.
“We are relishing the prospect of taking on the United States in Rome and playing the final day single matches at Marco Simone will be a memorable experience for both sets of players.”
Kim, who also won the Fairhaven Trophy in May, will be joined in Italy by Scotland’s Connor Graham, who has also enjoyed a brilliant week after the 17-year-old was selected for next month’s Walker Cup.
In total eight countries are represented in the squad that will be bidding to win the event for the first time since 2004. The USA have won the last six meetings outright. History was also made with the selection of Lev Grinberg, the first Ukranian to play in the Junior Ryder Cup.
Meanwhile Kim will be joined by more familiar faces in Paris this weekend as the visiting squad bid to end a run of three defeats in a row.
The former England U-14s champion is one of for English players in the nine picked. Joining him will be full international Dylan Shaw-Radford (Huddersfield), Boys international Hugh Adams (Hagley) and his clubmate Monty Holcombe.
