1) How many events will you be attending in your role as President?
All the Yorkshire Union events I can. There are a couple of date clashes so I can’t get to all of them.
2) Thing you are most looking forward to about being The President?
Working with the excellent members of the YUGC Executive and our Yorkshire teams. The whole operation is held together with such a strong commitment and enthusiasm of all involved. This is reflected in the very positive support and respect all our team members have for each other.
3) Favourite ‘other’ course outside your county and why?
The Belfry. I was eager to play The Brabazon Course after seeing Europe win The Ryder Cup.
Such a wonderful course.
4) Best round of golf you have played in your county?
That came at my home club in the late 80s and 90s. It was just one of those evenings where everything went right. It was quite freakish really. I shot a 73 gross (5 over) playing off 18.
5) Is there anything slightly unusual that you will have to do as President of the Yorkshire Union?
There is nothing out of the ordinary other than the amount of mileage I will be travelling throughout the year. Yorkshire is the biggest county in terms of geography and the number of clubs. This year I will be going to the likes of Middlesbrough, Huddersfield, Hallamshire and Flamborough. Plus I will go to all the Yorkshire matches in the Northern Counties Golf Union.
