FORMAT: 72-hole stroke play
There was no Silver Medal for Barclay Brown or Sam Bairstow but both had a fantastic week in the 150th Open at St Andrews.
The Sheffield amateurs both made the cut with Brown getting into the top 20 at halfway but he could not maintain that pace, finishing on two over par while Bairstow, who shot 69 to close, was just two shots further back.
For the Hallowes left-hander there was the added pleasure of going bogey free in a Major despite some of the most difficult pin positions ever seen in a golf tournament.
With the weather relatively calm, tricking up the pins remained the only defence for the R&A as some of the best players in the world made hay in the sunshine.
And Bairstow certainly enjoyed himself in the final round. He holed a monster putt at the eighth for a two and then drove the green at the next before securing a two-putt birdie.
The 23-year-old then impressively negotiated the difficult run between 13 and 17 before just missing out on a birdie at the last.
His England team-mate Brown did birdie 18 after a sublime chip across the green to two feet. However there were five bogeys leading up to that as the back nine bit to end his hopes of winning the silver medal. The Hallamshire ace finished with a three over 75.
Of the other amateurs who made the cut, Cayman Islands amateur Aaron Jarvis finished a shot better off than Brown on one over while Italian Filippo Celli eagled 14 to get to five under par with four to play.
