South Hunsley will be represented in the English Schools Team Championship for the first time thanks to a knife-edge victory in the Yorkshire qualifier at Low Laithes.
The East Yorkshire school’s B team of Samuel Loughton (Brough), Jack Eastman (Cottingham Parks) and Jacob Hodgson (Hull) edged out Ermysteds Grammar and Wath Academy on countback. All three finished on 68 points.

With the best two out of three scores counting, South Hunsley finished top by virtue of having the best third score. Hodgson’s strong finish meant he finished a point ahead of Ermysted’s ‘third’ golfer.
The leading individual player was Middlesbrough-based Macmillan pupil Kye Bouttell, who racked up 39 points.
The national final takes place at Woodhall Spa on July 21.
