Hertfordshire Men’s Champion Club qualifier lit up by teenager’s 69
County champion Reis Suart demonstrated his class as he led Welwyn Garden City into next month’s Hertfordshire Men’s Champion Club final.
FORMAT: 3-man team, 18-hole stroke play qualifier
The teenager, who finished eighth at the England U-18s (Carris) last year, was the only player to break par (69) as his club topped qualifying at Brookmans Park on Sunday.
The top four at each semi made it through to the final at Harpenden Common (April 24th) where 22 clubs will battle it out for the overall title.

Suart’s two-under-par score helped Welwyn Garden City finish three clear of the host club with Royston and Hanbury Manor also making it through.
In the other semi-final at Verulam, the host club led the way with each of their three players shooting a three-over-par 75. That was enough to put them four clear of Centurion with Stocks and Hartsbourne close behind in third and fourth.
The eight qualifying clubs join hosts Harpenden Common, holders Hadley Wood and the other 12 clubs from the top two divisions of the Hertfordshire Scratch League in next month’s finale.
