Redbourn’s Anthony Biggerstaff led the way in qualification for next month’s Hertfordshire County Championship.
The event is staged for those players who do not qualify purely on a handicap basis with the top 16 making it through to the three-day event at Knebworth GC, starting on June 4th.
Biggerstaff put in a superbly consistent performance during his three over par round at Old Ford Manor GC to win the Herts Salver. The 3 handicapper registered 16 pars on his way to a 74, which left him a shot ahead of Verulam’s Simon Irwin, Jack Charlton (Hadley Wood), Lewis Smith (South Herts) and Rio Saigal (Moor Park)
The competition proper starts with 36 holes of strokeplay with the 66 entrants battling to finish in the top 16 for the matchplay stages over the weekend (June 5-6).
