It’s been a quite a year for amateur golf in Great Britain and we asked some our leading players what were their stand-out moments and also asked them to look ahead to 2022
‘I was out of position down the right hand side so had to play a high fade to the green from 150 yards’
1) Your best round of the year and why?
My best round of the year was -4 during the Faldo Series at Kedleston Park. I felt this was my best round because it’s the lowest score I had in a major competition and everything came together from tee to green.
2) Your best shot of the year and why?
Best shot for me this year came at the 9th at Kedleston Park during my four under round. I was out of position down the right hand side so had to play a high fade to the green from 150 yards. I executed it to perfection, which enabled an eight-foot birdie putt.
3) The best shot you saw and why?
Dylan Shaw-Radford during the Boys Champion of Champions at Woodhall Spa. He was out of position in the rough, had a downhill lie and was short sided. He managed to get it to within five feet and holed the putt.
4) Your favourite moment of 2021 (this could be personal or something completely random but golf related)?
Walking down the 18th fairway at Market Rasen knowing I’m going to win the Lincolnshire Boys Championship.
5) Your hopes and ambitions for 2022?
Represent England at U-16s and to get into the he England Boys U-18s squad.
6) One thing you would change about about golf for next season?
One thing I would change for next season would be to get more data on my short game so I can see where I need to improve.
