The Northern Order of Merit’s first-ever Cumbria-based event – The Silloth Scratch – is now open for entries.
The world-famous links, recently ranked as the 20th best course in England by Today’s Golfer, is one of six new Northern Order of Merit venues for 2023, taking the total up to 35.
And this year, for the first time, entrants will be attempting to finish in the top 30 of the overall standings in order to qualify for the Grand Final at Hurlston Hall in late September.
North West clubs champions invited to enter new Invitational championship
Silloth secretary Alan Oliver said: “We are always trying to attract the best players to our 36-hole scratch event at Silloth to showcase our wonderful links golf course.
“We are excited to join the Northern Order of Merit for 2023 and have Silloth added to their already impressive list of events in the region.”
Silloth on Solway has hosted some of the country’s most prestigious amateur golf competitions, most recently the English Amateur in 2012. Last year the English Boys (Carris Trophy) was played there.
