Central to the Beacon Park story is Oakland Golf and Leisure. Despite numerous requests to co-operate on this story, no-one associated with the running of the operation has responded.
There are actually two Oakland companies. The first one – Oakland Golf and Leisure Limited – was incorporated on September 2nd, 2009. The last balance sheet available includes transactions, up to and including August 30th, 2021. Its net current liabilities were £1,154,686.
Oakland Golf and Leisure (UK) Limited was incorporated on December 11th, 2014. Its last official accounts submission, up to and including December 31st, 2021, listed net assets at £700,415.
According to Companies House, they are co-owned by Jonathan Snellgrove and his wife Sharon. On the website – www.oaklandgolf.com – he is listed as the founder and co-director while his son Adam is listed as Operations Director.
Adam Snellgrove’s company Golf and Leisure Construction Ltd was incorporated on October 7th, 2021. It has yet to submit a return to Companies House.
The Oaklands website says ‘Oakland Golf and Leisure is the industry leader in self funding golf course, golf driving range and practise ground construction. Using imported material, we utilise the expertise garnered over 20 years to deliver an outstanding finished product to our clients.’
The process is also explained across four distinct phases:
1) Construction and Design
2) Importation of Material
3) Recycling
4) Shaping, Seeding and Drainage
Under that final subheading it says: ‘Our team of experienced machine operators carefully sculpt the landscape into the course design, shaping and contouring to specification. Once this is completed positive drainage, along with traditional drains are installed to create a water harvesting facility which may contribute to your irrigation demands. This is followed by seeding of the greens, tees and fairways to finish the project’.
