It’s been a quite a year for amateur golf in Great Britain and we asked some our leading players what were their stand-out moments and also asked them to look ahead to 2024
1) Your best round of the year and why?
First round at the English Amateur where I shot six under with a double up the last to miss out on course record by one.
2) Your best shot of the year and why?
The chip in to win English Amateur on the 2nd play-off hole (see below)
3) The best shot you saw and why?
In the first round of the British Amateur where my playing partner Paul Conroy holed out from about 160 yards and it spun back into the hole
4) Your favourite moment of 2023 (this could be personal or something completely random but golf related)?
When I won the English Amateur and then my brother Dan got his first win on the DP World Tour a few weeks later
5) Your hopes and ambitions for 2024?
I’m not really one for setting outcome goals so just to improve a few per cent each year
6) One thing you would change about about golf for next season?
To be able to prefer-lie-it out of a divot from the fairway.
