FORMAT: 36-hole stroke play
Cameron Mukherjee showed remarkable composure in claiming the Scottish Boys U-14s Open Championshp at Kirkcaldy on Monday.
The 13-year-old Gullane member was in the final group and had to overcome a high-class field and a three-hour weather delay to become the first Scottish winner of the event since 2015.
He parred every hole on the back nine in beating Hertfordshire’s Edward Wade (Harpenden Common) by two shots with his clubmate Kiron Gribble a further two shots back in third.
“My driving has been great the last two days and I holed a lot of clutch putts from about six feet today which is always good,” Cameron told Scottish Golf on Monday night.

“Winning this is right up there. It’s probably at the top. It’s the first time I’ve played Kirkcaldy. It’s a great course. There are some tough greens to hit into and some tight fairways. I like it a lot.”
Cameron started the final day level with the Hertfordshire teenager on two under but gave himself some breathing space by turning in one shot better while his English opponent, playing three groups ahead, dropped back to level par with nine holes to go.
As the leader kept reeling off the pars down the stretch, Edward got within one by birdieing 16 but crucially bogeyed the last to close one under par.
In the U-12s category, Hollinwell’s George Cooper (Eng) won by three shots from Scotland’s Aiden Lawson (Bruntsfield Links).
