Kent U-16s carried their dominant league form into the South East Group final at Muswell Hill and won the competition for the first time.
FORMAT: 18-hole triangular matchplay
Will Carroll’s side dropped just one point in qualifying for the showdown with Hertfordshire and Essex and then recorded two dominant victories at the Middlessex venue.
“Overall we are lucky to have such a strong squad,” said the Kent coach.
“It was struggle to select eight players because we have a squad of 12 and would probably have won using any combination of the 12.
“It does bode well for golf in Kent that eight of those 12 will be available next year and the four boys moving up to the U-18s will only strengthen their side.”
Winning Kent team:
• Jack Lee (Rochester & Cobham Park)
• Luke Jenkins (Rochester & Cobham Park)
• Lucas Dennison (Rochester & Cobham Park)
• Jake Antoun (Kings Hill)
• George Edwards (Sene Valley)
• Billy Scamp (Chelsfield Lakes)
• Jake Potter (Chelsfield Lakes)
• Finn Lord (Sene Valley)
One of those playing for the U-16s for the final time was top seed Jack Lee (Rochester & Cobham Park), who set the tone for what was to follow with 7&5 and 5&4 victories.
Lucas Dennison (Rochester & Cobham Park), Jake Antoun (Kings Hill) and Finn Lord (Sene Valley) also won both their matches.
They set the platform for a 5.5-2.5 victory over runners-up Essex while Hertfordshire were beaten 6-2.
