Waterton Park collected their second Yorkshire Team Championship title of the season at Knaresborough Golf Club last night.
The Wakefield club won Division Three by three shots, five weeks after doing the same at the Division Five version at Northcliffe.
And not for the first time it was Gordon Owen leading the way for Waterton. The veteran shots rounds of 72 and 77 for a five over par total and third in the overall individual standings, which were topped by Shipley’s Max Berrisford.

Not surprisingly the 2018 Yorkshire Matchplay champion coped better than the rest in tough conditions with the closing holes in particular proving problematic for many in the field.
Berrisford (pictured above) opened with a three-under-par 69 and followed it up with 74 to help his club earn a place in next month’s Division Two championship at Bingley St Ives (July 7th).
Shipley finished in the final promotion spot with Garforth, led by 2020 Yorkshire Boys champion Jake Wallis (73, 78), the runners-up. Northcliffe, Moor Allerton and Selby also made it through.
The final of the competition takes place at Ganton on July 21st where Wakefield will defend the title they won at Abbeydale.
