Elexis Brown Golf Foundation to benefit from Amelia Taylor’s fund-raising efforts
More than £700 was raised for the Elexis Brown Golf Foundation (EBGF) thanks to the efforts of Trentham junior captain Amelia Taylor.
The 17-year-old decided to dedicate her Junior Captains Day to help raise money for the Foundation, which was set up last year to help keen junior golfers fulfil their golfing dreams.
EGBF founder Ben Peter, fellow trustee Phil Grimwood and Phil’s daughter Megan – Elexis’s best friend – were among those to support Amelia and the club. More than 50 juniors and adults competed for fantastic prizes donated by Paul Povey from Brewin Dolphin (Manchester).
“Amelia is a inspiration to all young golfers and her actions inspired others to dream more, and become more, she is a leader,” said Ben.
Foundation boosted by nearly £6,000 thanks charity golf day at Stonebridge Golf Club
“The foundation wish her the best of luck in the future as she is planning on attending University this year.
“As a foundation this sort of generosity is overwhelming and people from around the UK are starting to see what we are trying to achieve here at the EBG Foundation.”
Trentham President Chris Hewitt and captain Simon Mellard also took part while Mandy Ambert, lady editor of Midlands Golf Magazine, helped ensure the day went smoothly. Junior organiser James Tunner also ensured everything went to plan.
The amount raised, via a raffle, will fund a child on to the EBG programme for a whole year.
