Two of GB&I’s Walker Cup squad have been named in the international team for the annual Arnold Palmer Cup.
Sheffield duo Joe Padgin and Alex Fitzpatrick have been named in the 24-strong international side which pitches the best male and female college players from the USA against a rest of the world side who are studying in the States.
Walker Cup travelling reserve Padgin, who is 19 and studying in Florida, will be making his first appearance in the event which takes place at Rich Harvest Farms in June (11-13th).
Fitzpatrick, who is based at Wake Forest (North Carolina), was part of last year’s international side which enjoyed an emphatic 40.5-19.5 victory at Bay Hill last December.
The 12-strong international women’s contingent, includes Sussex’s Penny Brown and the 2020 Women’s Amateur champion Emily Price (Ludlow GC)
The format has been gradually expanded since the competition’s inception in 1997. On day one there will be 12 mixed fourballs and then 12 mixed foursomes and 12 fourball matches the day after before the event concludes with 24 singles.
