Prestbury’s Bel Wardle showed her class as she won the Cheshire Ladies Championship in brilliant style for the third time in a row at Bramhall GC on Tuesday.
The 21-year-old Curtis Cup squad member, who won the Champion of Champions trophy in 2019 and earlier this year took part in the highly prestigious Augusta National Women’s Amateur Championship, was six under for 13 holes in the final against Delamere Forest’s 14-year-old prospect Imogen Williamson in winning 6&5.
In fact so dominant was Wardle in the matchplay stages, none of her four matches went past the 14th.
For Williamson reaching the final was a massive achievement and in particular her semi-final victory over Caldy’s Dani Shap, the teenager securing her final place at the first play-off hole.
On Sunday, Bramhall hosted the strokeplay stages with the eventual champion qualifying in first place. Her two level par 73s left her seven clear of Shap and Williamson.
