A golf club in the North of England is going from strength to strength after teaming up with PlayMore.Golf.
Officials at Romiley Golf Club say it is “enjoying the best of both worlds on the membership front” thanks to its relationship with the UK’s largest points-based golf membership offering.
The Cheshire club, which is situated just south of Manchester on the border of the Peak District, turned to PlayMore.Golf for support just as covid-19 restrictions were tightening around the UK sports scene.

It proved that timing is everything because they joined forces at a time when people across the UK – including golfers – were looking to get more out of their leisure time and many were turning to golf club memberships for the first time.
Club secretary Martin Clark said: “It was a great move to team up with PlayMoreGolf and we haven’t looked back since.
“Our professional initially led the way by alerting us to the many potential benefits of working with PlayMoreGolf and it’s been a huge success.”

It was in a bid to streamline their membership offering that Romiley invited PlayMoreGolf to join the club as partners, with the app-based offering replacing the club’s 12-month voucher-based ‘academy’.
“At the time Romiley boasted some 50 different types of membership but we saw that PlayMoreGolf could help us in lots of ways by streamlining our offering,” Martin added.
“Our partnership with PlayMoreGolf got off to a slow start because we were in the grip of the pandemic but once it gathered momentum there was no stopping it.
“In the end we had 40 PlayMoreGolf people at the club which was absolutely ideal from the club’s perspective in terms of club membership ratio. Before we knew it we were enjoying the best of both worlds on the membership front and it’s meant that overall the club is in really good health.”
