Many of the North of England’s leading talent will tackle the Formby Hare later this month.
The Apeiron Northern Order of Merit event, which combines with the S&A Bowl to create a 72-hole WGAR event (The Lancashire Links Trophy), was once again oversubscribed and has attracted an impressive cast list from both sides of The Pennines.
Making a rare Apeiron Northern Order of Merit appearance is Yorkshire champion Richard Wheatley (The Bradford). The pilot will make a flying visit to the coast and partner current Order of Merit leader Chris Parkinson (Penwortham)
Sheffield-based Jack Leversidge, who won the BUCS English and Welsh Championship in March, is also set to appear. Moortown youngster Oliver Cage, who was third at the Delamere Horn just over two weeks ago, is back in the North West while England international Seb Cave, 19th at the Lytham Trophy, is also in the field. The Coxmoor youngster also won The Mere Trophy last year.
All three are also down to play at Southport and Ainsdale 24 hours later, as will James Holland who won the Lancashire Links Trophy in 2022 after securing the S&A Bowl.

The Bolton-based golfer saw off the challenge of Andrew Haswell to win the title again last year but the Ormskirk teenager will be full of confidence after his superb 10th-placed finish at the Lytham Trophy last weekend.
Fellow Lancashire county players Jack McPhail (Southport & Ainsdale) and Jamie Van Wyk (Royal Lytham) have also entered while home player Anthony Stirling is also in the field, having won the Formby Hare so impressively last year.
The North East is also once again strongly represented in the shape of Durham stalwart Richard Aisbitt (Brancepeth Castle), the former English mid-amateur champion, and Rockliffe Hall’s James Rogers, who finished second in the Pines Classic at Hillside in 2022.
